🌲 Trail Overview:
The hike to Loggers Lake begins just south of Whistler near the Cheakamus Crossing area. Following the Riverside Trail, the path hugs the Cheakamus River, offering early, stunning river views. The sound of rushing water and towering evergreens makes for a peaceful start.
You’ll gradually climb via the Lower Ridge Trail, gaining elevation as you move away from the river and into a more forested ridge area. The trail is well-maintained and moderately challenging, with some rocky and root-covered sections.
📷 Scenic Highlights:
🏞 The Riverside Trail runs right beside this glacial-fed Cheakamus River, with brilliant turquoise waters and white rapids. Several wooden bridges and clearings offer perfect photo ops.

🌲 I walked through lush Pacific Northwest rainforest with moss-covered trees, ferns, and wildflowers (seasonal).
Occasional breaks in the forest reveal glimpses of surrounding snow-capped peaks.
🔥 Loggers Lake is a crater lake set in an ancient lava cone. Its unique geology contrasts with the surrounding landscape.

The lake is remarkably warm in summer, making it a popular swimming spot. Quiet picnic areas and clear waters invite a restful break.
🏔 On the ascent and descent along the Lower Ridge Trail, you’ll catch views of Black Tusk (on a clear day), the Cheakamus Valley and distant glaciers and alpine ridgelines
🧭 Trail Tips:
- 🪵 The trail can be muddy or slippery after rain—hiking boots recommended.
